Call for Papers Special Issue of PER on ˇ§The Economics of Endogenous Specializationˇ¨ Guest Editors: Yew-Kwang Ng & Guang-Zhen Sun
Division of labor presents itself ubiquitously in economic activities, especially in knowledge economies of which a remarkable feature is increasing specialization at the individual level, as well as at the firm, industry, region and even economy levels. Recent two decades have seen a revival of interest of research into increasing returns to specialization and some important insights have been obtained. Much remains to be explored. This special issue aims to present current research on the determinants and implications of specialization and the division of labor, including, but not limited to, those springing from the analytical framework pioneered by Xiaokai Yang and others that focuses on consumer-producers' decisions as to the patterns and levels of specialization, which are related to important issues such as the structure of economic organization, risk-sharing in the firm and in the market, accumulation of human capital and economic growth, etc. Papers, theoretical or empirical, should be submitted, as soon as possible and by April 30, 2005 , either electronically in Word or PDF to: Kwang.Ng@Buseco.monash.edu.au or Guang-Zhen.Sun@Buseco.monash.edu.au OR via airmail to: Dr Guang-Zhen Sun, Department of Economics, Monash University , Clayton, Vic 3800, Australia .
